GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA had its fans and detractors back when it hit in August ‘09. For The ‘Meal’s buck, any flick with combat fatigues, sweat, and Channing Tatum on the same reel of celluloid is more than worth the money. And Rise of COBRA made money: the movie raked in over $300M, after all, and Paramount was propelled to plan a sequel faster than they could yell, Yo, Joe!

For the last year and a half, the question hasn’t been If a second JOE movie would get active duty at the BO, but When? Original director Stephen Sommers de-tached himself from a sequel just after the first JOE premiered, and while Paramount tapped Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick  early on to pen ‘Part II’, finding the next director proved to be much harder mission.

But Yo, Joe! Mission accomplished, Mealsters! There’s a new commander-in-chief on deck, but you’ll have to Hit the Jump to be debriefed!
